We are making a hinged board covered book. I have attached some photos.
I recommend no bigger than A4, and photograph size, ie sort of 4" by 6" works really well. The pages can be made of anything, but if pre- cutting, it needs to be noted that an inch is lost to the hinge/spine.
The outer cover can be plain fabric or something embroidered, the recent hardanger (will need a piece of fabric to go behind), crewel or chicken scratch workshop pieces are all possibles.
The workshop will be led by Helen Sargent who provided the following information:

Equipment
• Basic sewing kit to include sharp pointed embroidery scissors and fabric scissors
• Paper scissors
• Cutting mat
• Scalpel / cardboard cutter
• Metal ruler – can be borrowed
• Quilting ruler (optional)
• Pencil
• Fine curved needle (for normal sewing thread) - optional
Materials
• Mount board – 2x size of book (cover) + 2x 1” x height of book (spine)
• Thin wadding to cover card
• Strong thread for lacing
• Glue such as UHU or Bostik All Purpose clear glue – fast drying is better than PVA
• Fabric for outer cover – needs to cover 1 side of all the bits of card + 2cm seam allowance.
• Fabric for inner cover – needs to cover 1 side of all the bits of card + 2cm seam allowance.
• Embroidery and sewing threads to match fabrics
• Pages for your book – as you wish, can be paper or fabric and can be added later on.
Please note that Linda Livesey has donated a large quantity of good quality paper that can be used as pages so there is no need to buy paper.
